On June 29, 2026, two police officers of the Nigeria — Lagos State Police Command were killed during a stop-and-search operation in Aluu, Ikwerre Local Government Area, Nigeria — Rivers State, Nigeria. The attackers also stole their service AK-47 rifles. Following the incident, Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju ordered the deployment of operational and intelligence assets. Operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit arrested three suspects: Maduabuchi Emeka, Chinedu Owhor, and Kamachi Joe, all from Omoku area. Police recovered three AK-47 rifles and one Scorpion rifle. The suspects are also linked to other murder cases under investigation. A fourth gang member remains at large. The arrests were announced by police spokesperson Blessing Agebe.
