On Tuesday, Nigeria — Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced that his administration has empowered about 40,000 residents with business tools over the past seven years under the Micro Enterprise Support Initiative (MESI) Empowerment Programme. The announcement was made during the Year 2026 MESI Empowerment Programme organized by the Nigeria — Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development at Blue Roof, Agidingbi, Ikeja. Beneficiaries received various equipment including sewing machines, gas cookers, pepper grinding machines, catering utensils, hairdressing kits, photography equipment, agricultural processing machines, deep freezers, and food items. The programme aligns with the THEMES+ Agenda and aims to reduce poverty, promote economic inclusion, and support small and medium-scale enterprises. Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat encouraged beneficiaries to register with the Nigeria — Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) for funding support. Commissioner Bolaji Dada reiterated the government's commitment to empowering women and vulnerable residents. APC Nigeria — Lagos State Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi urged beneficiaries to make good use of the items.
