Kwankwaso backs Catholic Bishops against Tinubu

Rabi'u Kwankwaso, vice presidential candidate of the Nigeria — African Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 elections, publicly commended the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) for their courage and patriotism in highlighting Nigeria's socio-economic and security challenges. In statements posted on social media, Kwankwaso rejected claims that the bishops' concerns were politically motivated, emphasizing that issues such as rising living costs, insecurity, unemployment, and poor access to education and healthcare reflect the daily struggles of ordinary Nigerians. He urged leaders to adopt urgent, sincere, and people-focused solutions and called for constructive engagement with the Federal Government to promote accountability and good governance. His comments followed a recent exchange between President Bola Tinubu's administration and Catholic clerics, including Cardinal John Onaiyekan, over the country's challenges.
