Marvel Biosciences Corporation announced positive preclinical results for its lead drug candidate MB-204 in a Fragile X syndrome mouse model, conducted through the FRAXA Drug Validation Initiative in collaboration with the FRAXA Research Foundation. The study demonstrated statistically significant improvements in behavioural and cognitive function, including durable carry-over effects after treatment ceased. MB-204 restored every behavioural and cognitive endpoint studied toward wild-type levels, including novel object recognition, open-field activity, self-grooming, nesting, and hyponeophagia. This marks the third independent preclinical model of autism spectrum disorder in which MB-204 has shown efficacy, following Rett syndrome and Oprm1 models. The company also completed preclinical evaluation in a Shank3 model of Phelan-McDermitt syndrome and awaits final statistical analysis.
