The report signals strong growth in India's EV sector, potentially boosting employment and investment in related industries. It may positively influence sentiment for EV manufacturers, component suppliers, and staffing firms like Adecco, while highlighting skill gaps that could drive demand for training and reskilling services.
A report by Adecco India projects that India's electric vehicle (EV) sector will generate 30-40 million jobs by 2030, with hiring growing 15-20% annually. The report, based on insights from over 100 companies, highlights that 10-15% of jobs will be direct and 85-90% indirect. Manufacturing remains the largest employment engine, with 50-55% of demand concentrated in hubs like Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Telangana, and NCR. However, nearly 70% of new hiring is expected to originate outside traditional clusters, in Tier-II and III corridors such as Hosur, Sanand, and Dholera. The battery recycling market, growing at a CAGR of 55% between FY22 and FY26, is emerging as a fast job-creation space. EV infrastructure hiring is expected to grow 45% over the next decade. Adecco India's Deepesh Gupta noted that India contributes 4% to the global EV passenger car segment and holds 17% market share in two-wheelers, and that states are operationalising policies like India — Delhi's Rs 7,000-crore EV Policy 2026. The report also highlights a 20-25% talent availability gap and the need for reskilling the existing ICE workforce.
