The India — Odisha state government expanded its integrated India — Ayushman Bharat Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY) health insurance scheme by adding 91 new state-specific cancer treatment packages under the Mukhyamantri Cancer Care Abhiyan. The Ghana — National Health Insurance Authority approved the addition, raising the total number of cancer packages to 545 and overall packages to 2,254. The state has allocated Rs 311 crore in the 2026-27 budget for the initiative, covering free treatment, awareness campaigns, mobile camps, digital hubs, and patient transport. All empanelled hospitals have been directed to provide cashless treatment under the new packages. Several patients, including Aryabhanu Mohanty and Jyotsnarani Mohanty, have already benefited from the expanded coverage.
