For Ciena, this deal reinforces its market leadership in high-capacity optical networking and contributes to its revenue pipeline in the region.
Etisalat UAE, the telecom arm of Etisalat (ADX: EAND), is deploying Ciena's (NYSE: CIEN) next-generation optical and software solutions to build a future-ready, high-capacity Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) network. The network will handle surging traffic demands and support the high-speed, data-intensive connectivity needs of hyperscalers, neoscalers, and data center operators. Etisalat UAE is leveraging Ciena's Reconfigurable Line System (RLS) and Waveserver platform equipped with WaveLogic 6 Extreme (WL6e) 1.6Tb/s coherent optics, along with Ciena's Navigator Network Control Suite for end-to-end network visibility and automation. The deployment builds on a long-standing relationship between Etisalat UAE and Ciena focused on enabling next-generation digital infrastructure in the UAE. Etisalat UAE CTO Marwan Bin Shakar highlighted Ciena's proven leadership in high-capacity optical networking, while Ciena's Chief Product and Technology Officer Brodie Gage noted the Middle East's surge in bandwidth demand driven by advanced digital applications.
