The benchmark highlights widespread operational gaps in product data management, potentially influencing enterprise technology investments and vendor selection. Companies may increase spending on PIM and data integration solutions to close these gaps, benefiting providers like Inriver.
Inriver released its inaugural Product Data Maturity Index (PDMI), a benchmark study based on a survey of 405 senior executives in industrial manufacturing and wholesale distribution in the United States and Europe. The study, titled 'The Product Data Paradox,' reveals a significant gap between executive confidence and operational readiness for AI-powered commerce. Notably, none of the 117 organizations that claimed full preparedness for agentic commerce met the operational benchmark. Key findings include frequent integration failures, low automation rates, and insufficient monitoring of AI-related data. The report emphasizes the need for organizations to strengthen operational foundations before pursuing AI initiatives.
