MicroVision launches MOVIA Air lidar family

On August 5, 2026, MicroVision announced the launch of its MOVIA Air product family, purpose-built for autonomous aerial systems. The portfolio includes MOVIA Air, a lightweight lidar sensor optimized for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and MOVIA Air Plus, which adds edge processing and video imaging for real-time 3D environmental awareness, SLAM navigation, and onboard intelligence. The products expand MicroVision's portfolio beyond ground-based autonomy into aerospace, defense, and commercial drone applications, advancing its Lidar 2.0 strategy. MOVIA Air is approximately 50% lighter than the industrial version, enabling integration into UAVs and drones without compromising payload or endurance. MicroVision is collaborating with pre-launch partners, including a major industrial drone delivery company and a provider of advanced resource exploration, who are evaluating the products. The company plans to publicly demonstrate MOVIA Air Plus at the Joint Interagency Field Experimentation (JIFX) event, a Navy-led program, and later combine MOVIA Air data with its long-range IRIS lidar sensors for unified aerial and ground perception. A product webinar is scheduled for the week of August 17.
