The eruption may disrupt local agriculture and tourism in affected departments, but no major economic impact is expected. Insurance and disaster management sectors may see minor claims and response costs.

Activity at Guatemala's Fuego volcano, which began Monday morning, caused widespread evacuations and is gradually decreasing, authorities said Wednesday. The Guatemala — National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (CONRED) urged caution due to potential lahars from rainfall. Approximately 1,700 people were evacuated from at least 18 communities. No deaths or damage have been reported. Early Tuesday, lava reached 300 meters, triggering red alerts, highway closure, and class suspensions in three departments. Fuego is one of Guatemala's most active stratovolcanoes, located between Escuintla, Chimaltenango, and Sacatepéquez, 53 km from the capital. A 2018 eruption killed hundreds and impacted 1.7 million people.
