Veeco LUMINA+ MOCVD order for InP lasers

Veeco Instruments Instruments Inc. announced that a global leader in optical and photonic technologies has placed an order for its LUMINA+ MOCVD system to fabricate indium phosphide (InP) lasers for datacom applications. This order extends Veeco Instruments's strong position in high-volume arsenide and phosphide epitaxial production, with the LUMINA+ system now adopted across all major As/P applications, including the fast-growing InP laser market. The system offers the largest As/P batch size, best-in-class throughput, and lowest cost per wafer, enabling optical transceiver manufacturers to scale production. According to LightCounting, optical transceiver sales are expected to reach $39 billion in 2026, up 53% from 2025, driven by record capital deployment by AI hyperscalers and the shift toward inference and agentic AI workloads. Veeco Instruments positions itself as a key MOCVD epitaxy supplier to support this expansion.
