The partnership is expected to boost India's domestic ammunition production capabilities, potentially reducing reliance on imports and strengthening the defence supply chain. For VTDS, access to advanced Czech technology could enhance its manufacturing competitiveness, while DEUS Automation and STV Group gain a foothold in India's growing defence market.
Vijayan Trishul Defence Solutions (VTDS), an Indian company licensed by the Ministry of Home Affairs for small arms and ammunition manufacture, has signed a strategic technology partnership with DEUS Automation a.s., a sister company of the Czech Republic's STV Group. Under the agreement, DEUS Automation will provide advanced manufacturing technology for small-calibre ammunition production in India. This is among the first major technology-transfer collaborations in this sector between India and the Czech Republic. The partnership aims to enable VTDS to build manufacturing capabilities based on international quality benchmarks and precision engineering standards, supporting India's Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India defence initiatives. VTDS founders Sahil Luthra and Prikansha Luthra, along with DEUS Automation executives Alex Cerny and Ondrej Cerny, highlighted the collaboration as a long-term industrial partnership focused on technology exchange and innovation. The deal is expected to reduce India's import dependence, strengthen indigenous manufacturing capacity, and enhance supply chain resilience.
