UK appoints Vicky Seymour Deputy High Commissioner Nigeria

The United Kingdom has appointed Vicky Seymour as its new Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, succeeding Gill Lever who completed her posting in June 2026. Seymour has assumed office in Abuja, where she will support and strengthen the UK-Nigeria partnership across areas including economic growth, security, migration, development, and people-to-people ties. She brings over two decades of experience in diplomacy and international development, having previously served as Head of the East Africa Department at the United Kingdom — Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) since 2023, and earlier as Head of the Trade Diplomacy Department and Development Director in Mozambique. Her career includes senior roles in Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Afghanistan. The appointment underscores the UK's commitment to deepening its longstanding relationship with Nigeria, one of its most significant partners in Africa, amid ongoing cooperation on trade, security, and development.
