Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed reshuffles cabinet

Nigeria — Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed carried out a minor cabinet reshuffle on Thursday, appointing four new commissioners and redeploying three others, less than a year before the end of his administration. The changes follow the resignation of some commissioners who are pursuing political ambitions ahead of the 2027 elections, while two others were removed from office. The newly appointed commissioners are Madaki Ahmad Gololo (Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises and Cooperatives), Bashir Yau (Ministry of Youth and Sports Development), Bashir Adamu Rishi (Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management), and Baraya Ibrahim (Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment). Redeployments include Adamu Babayo Gabarin to Culture and Tourism, Abdul Hassan to Rural Development and Special Duties, and Muhammad Hamisu Shira to Finance and Economic Development. Hassan Eliyakub and Usman Usman were retained as supervising commissioners for Local Government and Water Resources, respectively. Governor Mohammed emphasized that the appointments were based on merit, competence, and equitable representation, and urged the new commissioners to uphold integrity, accountability, and transparency.
