The rollout is expected to improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction at Morrisons, potentially boosting its competitive position in the UK grocery market. For Everseen, the partnership with a major UK supermarket validates its technology and could lead to further adoption, positively impacting its growth prospects.
Morrisons, a major UK supermarket chain, announced a long-term partnership with Everseen, a retail technology firm, to deploy Evercheck, an AI-powered computer vision system, across 200 of its stores. The system uses real-time computer vision to compare scanned items with the contents of a shopper's basket, prompting customers to correct missed or mis-scanned items themselves, reducing the need for staff intervention and shortening queues. The rollout follows a successful trial and integrates with existing self-checkout systems. Morrisons' Store Support Office Director Francesca Bezoari and Everseen CEO Joseph White both commented on the partnership. Everseen's technology is already deployed across over 150,000 checkouts and 10,000 stores worldwide. The announcement comes amid Morrisons' broader digital transformation, including its adoption of Alphabet Inc.'s Gemini AI models and expansion of its partnership with Tata Consultancy Services.
