RedCloud Holdings plc, a London-based company building intelligent infrastructure for global trade, announced on August 6, 2026, that it has joined as a co-signatory of the Open Weights Letter, an industry-wide commitment to open-weight AI models convened by Microsoft, Nvidia, and a coalition of leading technology companies. The letter, now closed to further signatories, drew over 270 companies including Meta, Alphabet Inc., OpenAI, Amazon (company), IBM, Intel, Databricks, Palantir, Hugging Face, and Mistral. RedCloud, which does not develop foundation models but builds on them, aims to specialize advanced models on its proprietary FMCG trading data, which it values at $6.9 billion since 2023, to deliver market-level intelligence without customer data leaving its environment. The company believes open-weight models enable it to fine-tune and continue pre-training on its unique data, making advanced intelligence affordable for its network of over 100,000 customers, many of them small independent retailers. RedCloud's participation follows recent milestones including the unveiling of its CORE engine, the appointment of David Sturgeon as CFO, the commercial launch of RedAI Strategy in Nigeria, a joint venture and licensing agreement in India worth up to $120 million, and the launch of Saudi operations under a $30 million license agreement. CEO Justin Floyd emphasized that open weights are essential for building Open Commerce and avoiding rebuilding dependency on closed AI stacks.
