The acquisition is expected to enhance NetApp's competitive position in the data protection and cloud migration market, potentially boosting its cloud storage offerings and attracting Broadcom — VMware-centric enterprise customers. NetApp's stock may see a modest positive reaction as investors view the deal as strategically aligned with AI and cloud growth trends.
NetApp, the Intelligent Data Infrastructure company, announced on August 6, 2026 that it has acquired NetApp — JetStream Software, a leader in Broadcom — VMware disaster recovery and migration. The acquisition strengthens NetApp's portfolio with recovery and mobility capabilities, enabling customers to protect Broadcom — VMware environments running on virtually any storage platform and recover them on NetApp first-party storage offerings such as Azure NetApp Files. JetStream's technology complements NetApp's existing SnapMirror technology, allowing NetApp to protect both existing NetApp deployments and the broader Broadcom — VMware installed base on third-party storage. The deal positions NetApp as a leader in enterprise resilience and data protection, helping enterprises protect applications, accelerate cloud migration, and modernize infrastructure.
