The production results show mixed performance, with copper output slightly down but grades improving, while gold production declined significantly due to lower grades. The company's focus on cost optimization and reserve updates may support future production, but the gold decline could pressure near-term revenue.
Atico Mining Corporation announced its operating results for the second quarter of 2026 from its El Roble mine in Colombia. The company produced 2.08 million pounds of copper and 1,465 ounces of gold in concentrates, representing decreases of 4% and 38% respectively compared to Q2 2025. Copper head grade increased 10% to 1.91%, while gold head grade fell 40% to 1.25 g/t. Copper recovery remained stable at 92.3%, and gold recovery improved 18% to 68%. CEO Fernando E. Ganoza noted that the mine performed as planned, with incremental improvements in copper grades and recovery, while gold output was impacted by mining through a lower-grade zone. The company targets an updated reserve report in the second half of 2026 and expects further production gains from new operational equipment. El Roble has proven and probable reserves of 828 thousand tonnes averaging 2.49% Cu and 2.20 g/t Au, with a life of mine until Q1-2027. Atico also continues development of its La Plata VMS project in Ecuador.
