Microsoft Work Trend Index Philippines AI adoption

Microsoft released its 2026 Work Trend Index Annual Report, titled 'Agents, Human Agency, and the Opportunity for Every Organization,' which found that 25% of Filipino AI users qualify as 'Frontier Professionals,' compared with a 16% global average. The report, based on a survey of 20,000 workers across 10 markets plus additional markets including the Philippines, highlighted that Filipino workers show high AI maturity, with 77% saying they can produce work they could not a year ago, and 65% emphasizing critical thinking as the most important human skill. Microsoft also highlighted the 'Transformation Paradox,' where individual adoption outpaces organizational readiness, with only 35% of Filipino AI users seeing clear leadership alignment on AI. The report cited PLDT and Smart as examples of companies embedding AI into daily operations, having deployed 1,000 Microsoft 365 Copilot seats, and noted the Department of Education's AI initiatives to improve literacy and reduce teacher workload. Microsoft executives Mayank Wadhwa and Josh Aquino commented on the findings, and PLDT's Gilbert Gaw detailed productivity gains and ROI from the Copilot deployment.
