On August 5-7, 2026, Indonesia's Indonesia — Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology and the IIT Madras Global Research Foundation signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen strategic cooperation in higher education, research, innovation, deep technology, entrepreneurship, and talent development. The MoU was signed at IIT Madras in the presence of Indonesian Minister Brian Yuliarto, IIT Madras Director V. Kamakoti, and other officials. The agreement aims to enhance collaborative research and innovation ecosystems, accelerate deep-tech commercialization, and advance the India-Indonesia South-South Strategic Partnership. It emerged from the July bilateral summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Prabowo Subianto, reaffirming both nations' commitment to expanding cooperation in science, technology, and innovation. The partnership will enable Indonesian universities to participate in joint research, talent development, and startup incubation programs, contributing to Indonesia's innovation-driven economic growth and serving as a model for future South-South partnerships.
