Enugu approves land for ITF Digital Fabrication Centre

Governor Peter Mbah of Nigeria — Enugu State approved the allocation of a parcel of land in Enugu for the establishment of a Digital Fabrication Centre by the Nigeria — Industrial Training Fund (ITF). The announcement was made during a courtesy visit by an ITF delegation led by Director-General Afiz Oluwatoyin Ogun. Mbah described the project as aligned with his administration's vision of transforming Enugu into a hub for investment, innovation, and technology-driven industrial development. He highlighted the state's compulsory technical education, smart schools with robotics and mechatronics labs, and the projected $20 trillion contribution of artificial intelligence to the global economy. ITF Director-General Afiz Oluwatoyin Ogun explained that the Fund, under a mandate from President Bola Tinubu, aims to upskill Nigerian artisans to international standards through initiatives like the Skill-Up Artisans (SUPA) Programme. He noted that ITF already operates a Digital Fabrication Centre in Ikeja, Nigeria — Lagos, with capacity to produce over 400 products, and requested land in Enugu to replicate the facility. The centre is intended to promote industrialisation, reduce import dependence, and prepare Nigerians for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The delegation later toured one of Enugu's smart schools.
