Pakistan New Zealand deepen bilateral ties

Pakistan and New Zealand held the 5th round of Political Consultations and the 3rd round of the Joint Trade Committee (JTC) meetings in Wellington on August 6, 2026. The delegations, co-chaired by Pakistan's Additional Foreign Secretary Dr. Syed Ali Asad Gillani and New Zealand's Deputy Secretary List of ambassadors of New Zealand to China, reviewed bilateral relations and agreed to expand cooperation in economic development, science and technology, education, counterterrorism, and people-to-people ties. They also discussed regional and international issues, with Pakistan briefing on Middle East tensions, the situation in India — Jammu and Kashmir, and alleged violations of the Indus Waters Treaty. The JTC focused on boosting trade and investment, particularly in agriculture, livestock, IT, education, and services, including technical collaboration in wool production and plant protection. A key outcome was the signing of an Education Cooperation Arrangement between the two countries, expected to deepen educational collaboration.
