Bangladesh plans 400-acre Bogura industrial park

Commerce, Industries, Textiles and Jute Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir announced that the government of Bangladesh plans to establish a new industrial park on approximately 400 acres of land in Bogura to meet the growing demand from small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The existing BSCIC industrial estate in Bogura has reached full capacity, prompting the plan for a new BSCIC industrial park. Preliminary development work is expected to begin during the upcoming winter season. The park will provide industrial plots, basic infrastructure, technical training, skills development, and support for entrepreneurs. Additionally, entrepreneurs setting up factories in the park will be eligible for low-cost loans under the government's credit wholesaling scheme. The announcement was made at a programme marking the assumption of office by the newly elected board of directors of the Bogura Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The minister also visited the proposed site in Fapor union of Bogura Sadar upazila. The government aims to improve infrastructure, energy supply, and financing access to support industrial growth in the district, with Bogura positioned as a potential hub for light engineering.
