Kogi kidnapping rescue operation

Following a kidnapping incident along the Okene-Auchi Road in Kogi State, Nigeria, the Nigeria — Lagos State Police Command intensified search and rescue operations. The operation involved coordinated deployment of police and military personnel to forest areas suspected as hideouts, particularly around Ebiya Forest. Security teams searched and destroyed hideouts, recovering items such as foodstuffs and an Army-pattern jungle hat, but no victims were recovered initially. The operation continued with support from the Nigeria — Nigerian Army and Nigeria — Lagos State Police Command, including surveillance drones. Separately, the Command worked to restore calm after reprisal killings in Abugi, engaging community leaders and launching an investigation.
