The launch expands Robinhood's addressable market in the UK, potentially boosting user engagement and trading volumes, though crypto revenue has been declining. The move strengthens Robinhood's competitive position against other UK crypto platforms and aligns with its strategy to become an all-in-one investment platform, which could positively impact its stock.
Robinhood Markets launched cryptocurrency trading for eligible UK customers, allowing them to buy and sell over 50 digital assets directly within its main investing app. The service is provided through Bitstamp UK Ltd, a subsidiary of Bitstamp, which Robinhood acquired for $200 million in 2025. The launch follows the FCA registration of Robinhood's UK subsidiary on July 31, 2026, and includes zero trading, custody, and account maintenance fees, though a 0.1% foreign exchange fee applies (0.3% for certain weekend conversions). The offering includes Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP Ledger, and Hyperliquid. Robinhood also introduced Cortex Digests for Crypto, a generative AI feature that analyzes news and market data to explain price movements. Additionally, the company highlighted its Robinhood Chain, an Arbitrum-based Layer 2 blockchain, which has processed over $18 billion in DEX volume and over $840 million in total value locked since its July 1 launch. The rollout comes as Robinhood reported Q2 crypto transaction revenue of $100 million, down 38% year-over-year, while prediction markets generated $156 million, surpassing crypto for the first time. Total net revenue rose 32% to $1.31 billion, and net income increased 48% to $573 million. The company also filed for its second venture fund, Robinhood Ventures, aiming to raise up to $200 million.
