MZP protests MPSC recruitment reforms

On August 10, 2026, hundreds of members of Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), a student organization in India — Mizoram, staged a demonstration outside the India — Mizoram Public Service Commission (MPSC) office in Aizawl. The protesters picketed the office, preventing staff from entering, and demanded administrative and recruitment reforms. MZP called for scrapping the One Time Registration (OTR) system, replacing it with post-specific application forms, and allowing candidates rejected due to incomplete OTR document uploads to submit documents offline. MPSC defended the OTR system, stating it ensures fairness and efficiency, and rejected the demands, noting that only about 500 candidates may have been affected. Some affected candidates have approached the India — Gauhati High Court. MZP president Dr C. Lalremruata said the agitation would intensify until demands are met.
