American pop star Beyoncé has acquired full control of the Davis whisky brand after French luxury goods group LVMH sold its stake to her, LVMH said on Monday, confirming earlier media reports. LVMH declined to provide further details regarding the transaction. LVMH and Beyoncé initially formed the Davis whisky venture in 2024, amid a trend of similar partnerships between fashion companies and celebrities, such as LVMH's Armand de Brignac champagne deal with Beyoncé's husband Jay-Z. Davis is named in honour of Davis Hogue, Beyoncé's paternal great-grandfather, a farmer and moonshiner during Prohibition. LVMH tapped master distiller Bill Lumsden, renowned for his work on Scotch whisky brands LVMH — Glenmorangie distillery and LVMH — Ardbeg, to lead the creation of the whisky. Lumsden selected a bespoke mash bill of 51% rye and 49% malted barley, combining traditional techniques to impart an elegant mouthfeel reminiscent of Japanese and Scotch whiskies while retaining robust American rye flavours. The bottle features ribbed glass and a black medallion with a bronzed horse, symbolising Beyoncé's Texas roots.
