Taylor Farms recalls jalapeno products over salmonella

Taylor Farms, a major North American producer of salads and fresh-cut vegetables, voluntarily recalled products containing jalapeños on August 9, 2026, due to potential salmonella contamination. The recall followed notification that Coast Citrus Distributors was recalling fresh jalapeños linked to a multistate salmonella outbreak that has sickened about 350 people and led to 36 hospitalizations across 27 states. The potential source was identified as a grower in Sinaloa Cartel, Mexico, which also supplies Coast Citrus Distributors. Taylor Farms stopped sourcing from that farmer and is using alternative suppliers. Recalled items include salsas, guacamole, dips, and sandwiches sold at major retailers such as Kroger, Target, Walmart, Whole Foods, Trader Joe s, and Ahold Delhaize — Stop & Shop, with 'Best If Used By' dates up to August 16, 2026. The company stated it is not aware of any illnesses linked to its recalled products. This recall follows a separate cyclospora outbreak linked to Taylor Farms' iceberg lettuce from central Mexico, which has heightened consumer concerns and scrutiny of the company. The FDA and CDC are investigating the salmonella outbreak, and restaurants including Chipotle and Qdoba have stopped using the affected jalapeños.
