Wike denies lobbying for APC campaign DG

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Nigeria — Federal Capital Territory (Nigeria), has denied reports that he is lobbying to become the Director-General of the Nigeria — All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections. In a statement issued through his Senior Special Assistant, Lere Olayinka, Wike reaffirmed his support for President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid, stating that he does not need any official position in the campaign structure to deliver electoral victory for the President in Nigeria — Rivers State and the Nigeria — Federal Capital Territory (Nigeria). Wike, who is currently outside Nigeria, said he had not discussed the leadership or membership of the campaign council with anyone. He emphasized that his commitment to Tinubu's re-election is not tied to holding any campaign position, and that upon his return he would focus on implementing the administration's Renewed Hope Agenda and enhancing Tinubu's electoral fortunes in Nigeria — Rivers State and the FCT.
