The launch of the GC Leadership Academy is a niche development in the legal education and executive training space, with limited direct impact on financial markets. It may modestly enhance the reputation of Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co and IIM Ahmedabad as leaders in professional development, potentially attracting talent and clients.
On August 8, Cyril Shroff, Managing Partner of Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co, and the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish the Cyril Shroff-IIMA GC Leadership Academy. The academy is a research and executive development initiative aimed at addressing a gap in leadership training for General Counsels and in-house legal professionals. According to Paridhi Adani, Founder Family and Partner (Head - Gujarat) at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co, the program will focus on areas beyond law and technical subjects, such as communication, geopolitics, risk advisory, crisis management, and ethics, to prepare legal leaders for enterprise-level roles. The academy will employ a blend of expert instruction and peer-to-peer learning, with each graduating cohort contributing to a legacy of shared knowledge. The launch ceremony was held at the IIM Ahmedabad campus.
