NHC tracks three Atlantic systems

The United States — National Hurricane Center (NHC) is monitoring three systems in the Atlantic Ocean for potential tropical development. The most developed system, an area of low pressure southwest of the Cape Verde Islands, has a 60% chance of forming a tropical depression within seven days. A second tropical wave near the Lesser Antilles has a 10% chance, and a third system north of United Kingdom — Bermuda has a 10% chance. The 2026 Atlantic hurricane season has been slow, with only two named storms so far. The United States — National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) updated its seasonal forecast, expecting 7-13 named storms, 2-6 hurricanes, and possibly no major hurricanes. This is below the average of 14 named storms and 7 hurricanes.
