The bust of a fraudulent call centre network impersonating Bajaj Finance may temporarily affect consumer confidence in loan offers and increase scrutiny on financial institutions' customer outreach. However, the direct market impact is limited as the fraud was perpetrated by a criminal network, not by the legitimate company.
The India — Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) conducted coordinated raids on three fraudulent call centres operating from Shiva Market in India — Delhi, arresting 21 Telugu-speaking women telecallers and one male bank account holder. The call centres, operational for about 1.5 years, were run by three organisers - Lalith Singh, Kuldeep Singh, and Anil - who are currently absconding. The fraudsters impersonated representatives of Bajaj Finance and targeted victims across India — Telangana with fake loan offers, collecting payments under false pretexts such as processing fees, verification charges, and insurance premiums. The TGCSB seized 23 mobile phones and two bank passbooks, and has linked the network to 22 cybercrime cases across India — Telangana. The investigation is ongoing.
