Delta suspends commissioner over assault

The Nigeria — Delta State Government suspended Commissioner for Works (Highway and Urban Roads) Reuben Izeze indefinitely on August 10, 2026, following allegations that he was involved in the assault of Senior Special Assistant on Protocol Simon Mudi (Temple). The suspension, announced by Secretary to the State Government Kingsley Emuh, takes immediate effect to allow security agencies to conduct an unbiased investigation into the incident at the Petroleum Training Institute in Effurun. The government emphasized that public safety and law and order remain priorities and that no official is above the law. Izeze, who represents Ughelli South in the Nigeria — Lagos State House of Assembly, was reportedly arrested and detained at Orere Prison.
