The Wazirabad Water Supply Improvement Project, a Rs 2,574 crore initiative assisted by the Asian Development Bank, received in-principle approval from the screening committee of the International — United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs. The project, conceptualized in 2013 and stalled for years, aims to modernize the water supply network in Delhi's Wazirabad Water Treatment Plant command area. It will cover the entire supply chain from treatment to household connections, replacing old pipelines, upgrading infrastructure, and reducing non-revenue water. Eight interconnected command centers will be established for digital monitoring. The project is expected to be implemented zone-wise, with works in west and southwest zones targeted for award by January 2027 and other zones by March 2027. A project management consultancy proposal worth Rs 43.77 crore has been placed before the India — Delhi Jal Board, with NJS Engineers India Private Limited as lead and NJS Co. Ltd. as joint venture partner.
