Photocure BLC cost-neutrality study published

Photocure ASA announced the publication of a retrospective cohort study in JU Open Plus evaluating the economic implications of blue light cystoscopy (BLC) versus white light cystoscopy (WLC) using Hexvix/Cysview in a real-world setting. The study, based on claims data from the U.S. UnitedHealth Group — Optum Research Database, analyzed 794 BLC patients and 4,764 matched WLC patients. Key findings showed that BLC patients had higher detection of carcinoma in situ (CIS) and more frequent surveillance, but total healthcare costs per patient per month were not significantly different between the two cohorts. The authors concluded that BLC is cost-neutral while improving diagnostic accuracy. Photocure highlighted the study as contributing to the clinical utility of BLC for non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer patients.
