This is a government educational initiative with minimal direct market impact. It may modestly support the education and healthcare sectors by fostering future scientific talent, but it is unlikely to affect financial markets in the near term.

The India — Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the New Zealand — Health Research Council launched the second edition of the ICMR-SHINE (Science and Health Innovation for NextGen Explorers) programme on August 11, 2026. The two-day nationwide initiative opens ICMR laboratories and research units across 83 locations to school students from grades 9 to 12, aiming to reach around 30,000 students. Activities include guided laboratory tours, research exhibitions, poster walks, video presentations, and live demonstrations, as well as interactions with ICMR scientists. ICMR Director General Dr Rajiv Bahl inaugurated an exhibition and encouraged students to pursue science careers. The programme also features the launch of the official SHINE website, a mascot named Dr Curio, and a nationwide school competition for students to propose solutions to public health challenges. The initiative aligns with India's Viksit Bharat 2047 vision to nurture scientific temper among youth.
