The deal strengthens IBM's cloud AI offerings and positions it to capture growing enterprise demand for AI inference, potentially boosting its cloud revenue. For NVIDIA, it expands adoption of its HGX B300 and Spectrum-X products in enterprise cloud environments, reinforcing its dominance in AI infrastructure. Together AI gains access to large-scale GPU capacity to scale its open-source inference services, enhancing its competitive position against larger cloud providers.
IBM and Together AI announced a multi-year, $240 million agreement to deploy a large-scale NVIDIA HGX B300 AI inference cluster on IBM Cloud, with availability expected in Q1 2027. This is the first dedicated large-scale inference cluster on IBM Cloud using NVIDIA HGX B300 systems and NVIDIA Spectrum-X Ethernet networking, which NVIDIA says can deliver up to 30x more AI factory output than prior generations. Together AI will use the cluster to provide open-source model inference services to enterprises, aiming to improve performance and token economics. Together AI recently raised $800 million in Series C funding at an $8.3 billion valuation and reports serving 400 trillion tokens monthly. The collaboration builds on the broader IBM-NVIDIA partnership to advance AI infrastructure and software.
