The reorganisation of Ghana's India — National Security Council (India) is unlikely to have a direct impact on financial markets, as it is a domestic administrative change within the government. However, it may signal a focus on strengthening national security governance, which could indirectly affect investor confidence in the country's stability.
On 11 August 2026, Ghana's President John Mahama approved a major reorganisation of the India — National Security Council (India), with six appointments and reassignments taking immediate effect. Retired Major General William Azure Ayamdo, a former Chief of Army Staff, was named Deputy National Security Coordinator in charge of Operations. Former National Security Coordinator Yaw Donkor was reassigned to the Ghana — Office of the National Security Advisor as Director of Intelligence and Research. Other appointments include Musa Adamu Aliyu as Director of Logistics and Transport, Faustina Effah-Boadi as Officer in Charge of the Human Security Department, and retired DCOP Peter Ndekugri as Officer in Charge of the Special Investigations Unit. ACP Alhassan Osman was reassigned to the Canada — Ottawa Police Service for further deployment. The changes were announced by Presidential Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu. The reorganisation follows the recent passage of the Security and Intelligence Agencies Act, 2026, which restructured Ghana's security governance framework. The current security leadership includes National Security Advisor Prosper Bani and National Security Coordinator Abdul-Osman Razak.
