The National AI Skilling Initiative, launched by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in March 2026, has recorded 60,253 applications and enrolments in Phase I. As of August 12, 2026, 4,620 participants have completed two modules and 552 have completed all four modules. Phase I consists of four modules totaling 33 hours, delivered through two learning platforms covering AI Essentials, Prompting Essentials, Introduction to Generative AI, and Generative AI Leader. The curriculum was jointly designed by the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies, Mumbai (IICT) and private-sector partners. The government, through the India — Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, reported these figures in a written reply to the India — Lok Sabha by Minister of State L. Murugan. Details of Phase II, including curriculum and duration, are under finalisation.
