KBR has been selected by Green Hydrogen Energy Company to provide technology licensing and pre-front-end engineering design (pre-FEED) services for a world-scale, low-cost ammonia project in the Laayoune region of Morocco. The project is expected to produce approximately 560,000 metric tons of ammonia per year and utilize about 900 MW of electrolyzer capacity, integrating power generation, hydrogen production, and ammonia synthesis. The pre-FEED study is funded by the UN Trade and Development (USTDA), with KBR supporting ORNX's successful grant application. The consortium for the study includes GE Vernova, PERIC Hydrogen Technologies, and Terabase Energy. The project aligns with Morocco's renewable energy and hydrogen objectives and aims to supply low-carbon ammonia to global markets. KBR's ammonia technology has been used in over 260 projects worldwide.
