On August 12, 2026, TrustKernel, a global pioneer in secure operating systems and privacy-preserving computing, announced the launch of PlugClaw, a thumb-sized Private AI Computer. The device, priced from US$149, is a USB-C stick that combines frontier AI capabilities with hardware-isolated privacy. PlugClaw features its own processor (MediaTek Helio G80), memory, encrypted storage, and a privacy-focused operating system called PlugOS, which is based on a hardened Android. It also runs Ubuntu 24.04 in an AI agent virtual machine and uses the OpenClaw AI runtime, extended with Android GUI operation. The device allows users to delegate real work to AI, such as replying to messages, organizing files, and executing multi-step workflows, while keeping data isolated from the host device. It supports a wide range of AI models including Claude, GPT, Gemini, DeepSeek, Grok (chatbot), Minimax, Qwen, Kimi, GLM, and MIMOS. TrustKernel's CEO, Dr. Wenhao Li, emphasized that the AI that does your work should keep your data yours. The product is available worldwide, with no mandatory subscriptions, and includes US$15 in AI credits. This launch extends TrustKernel's consumer hardware line, which began with PlugMate.
