On August 12, 2026, India — Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that Torrent Group is investing over Rs 43,000 crore in the state across multiple energy projects, expected to create more than 15,000 direct and indirect jobs. The investments include a 1,600 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power project in Anuppur (Rs 22,000 crore), a 1,500 MW Patalkot pumped storage project in Chhindwara (Rs 7,500 crore), a 250 MW wind project in Ratlam and Ujjain (Rs 2,000 crore), and an additional 800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal project (Rs 11,000 crore). A Power Purchase Agreement for the Anuppur project was signed with MP Power Management Company Limited on January 27, 2026. The state is also initiating a tender to procure 2,800 MW of thermal power under the DBFOO model, and Yadav invited Torrent Group to participate. Torrent Group also operates a USFDA-approved pharmaceutical unit in Pithampur. Torrent Group aims to develop 10 GW of renewable capacity by 2030.
