Security and Public Safety

The Nigeria — Lagos State Police Command conducted two separate intelligence-led operations in August 2026, resulting in the arrest of two suspected kidnappers and the rescue of a 10-year-old boy. In the first operation on August 8, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit raided a hideout in Tudun Doki Village, Gwadabawa LGA, and arrested Suleman Abdullahi, also known as 'Osho', a suspected key member of a kidnapping syndicate. Buba allegedly confessed to involvement in kidnappings and illegal levies in Gwadabawa, Kware, and Gada LGAs, and is assisting police in tracking other syndicate members. In a separate incident on August 11, police in Gidan Madi Town, Tangaza LGA, rescued Muhammad Sufiyanu after he was reported missing by his uncle, Ja afar Ibrahim Sani. Detectives intercepted two suspects on a motorcycle carrying a concealed sack; the suspects fled, and the boy was found alive inside the sack. He was treated at Gidan Madi General Hospital and discharged. One suspect was arrested and confessed to the abduction. Commissioner of Police Hayatu Hassan Shaffa commended the officers and urged public cooperation. Investigations are ongoing.
