Russia wheat transits Azerbaijan to Armenia

Since October 2025, Azerbaijan has lifted restrictions on cargo transit to Armenia, enabling shipments from Russia to Armenia via Azerbaijani territory. Multiple rail shipments of wheat, barley, and other goods have been dispatched from Bilajari station to Boyuk Kesik. As of late August 2026, over 47,000 metric tons of grain, about 9,000 tons of fertilizer, 1,136 tons of propane, 133 tons of aluminum, 1,114 tons of coal, and 67 tons of timber have been transported from Russia to Armenia via Azerbaijan. Additionally, Azerbaijan has exported nearly 15,000 tons of diesel fuel and about 5,000 tons of gasoline to Armenia. The policy shift was announced jointly by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, with the first shipment under the new framework being Kazakh grain.
