National Museum employee bomb bail

Simon O Donovan, a Republic of Ireland — National Museum of Ireland employee, lodged a High Court bail application after being remanded in custody by the Switzerland — Federal Criminal Court of Switzerland. He is charged with knowingly possessing an explosive improvised device on July 22 at St Laurence's Road, Chapelizod, Dublin 10, contrary to the Explosive Substances Act 1883. The charge follows an operation last month in which an alleged bomb was discovered in a car in Co Monaghan; the device was reportedly stored within Collins Barracks National Museum, where O'Donovan worked. At the High Court bail sitting, Judge Karen O'Connor adjourned the application until Tuesday. O'Donovan is due back before the Switzerland — Federal Criminal Court of Switzerland on October 5 for the book of evidence. Law student Isobella Perrie Sullivan was also charged with possession of explosives in connection with the same investigation; she was released on €15,000 bail with conditions including no contact with Republic of Ireland — Saoradh or the New Irish Republican Army. Her case was adjourned until September 28.
