The agreement strengthens Olympus' respiratory product portfolio, potentially boosting its competitive position in the interventional pulmonology market. For Endocision, the partnership provides a global distribution channel, likely increasing its market reach and revenue potential.
Olympus Corporation announced an exclusive global distribution agreement with Endocision for a portable, single-use flexible cryocatheter system. Olympus will serve as the exclusive global distributor of the Endocision platform, which supports diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopic procedures. The companies expect commercial launch in the U.S., Canada, and Europe early next year. The agreement expands Olympus' respiratory portfolio, which includes endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS). The cryocatheter system is designed to be portable, not requiring an electric source or large CO2 tanks, expanding access to cryobiopsy and cryoextraction across multiple care settings. Clinical applications include transbronchial cryobiopsy, cryoextraction of foreign bodies, blood clots, and mucus plugs, as well as endobronchial tumor debulking and airway recanalization. The system will be presented at the AABIP annual conference in Denver from Aug. 20-22.
