The schedule revision is unlikely to have a direct impact on financial markets. It may slightly affect the operations of educational institutions and coaching centers, but the overall market impact is negligible.
The IIT Madras (IIT Madras), the organizing institute for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027, has revised the application schedule. The GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) will now open on August 27, 2026, instead of the originally planned August 14, 2026. The regular registration deadline has been extended to September 27, 2026, and the extended registration with late fee will close on October 5, 2026. Other key dates remain unchanged: the application rectification window runs from October 14 to 21, 2026, city allotment notification is on January 4, 2027, the exam will be held on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, and 21, 2027, and results will be announced on March 19, 2027. GATE 2027 will feature 30 test papers, including a new Robotics and Automation paper. Indian candidates must register through DigiLocker. The exam is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and the IITs on behalf of the National Coordination Board, Department of Higher Education, India — Ministry of Education (India). GATE scores are used for admission to postgraduate programs and by Public Sector Undertakings for recruitment.
