Telangana fee reimbursement and education reforms

India — Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced that the state government will deposit Rs 2,400 crore towards student fee reimbursement directly into bank accounts in advance from the 2026-2027 academic year. Rs 250 crore has already been made available. The new direct benefit transfer system aims to credit amounts within a month of online application, preventing colleges from withholding certificates due to delayed payouts. Reddy also announced the introduction of skill-development courses from nursery to Class 12, and highlighted Advanced Technical Centres (ATCs) established in 119 constituencies in collaboration with Tata Group, providing monthly stipends of Rs 2,000 to enrolled students. He emphasized social justice measures, noting that 60% of Group-1 recruitment selections were from Backward Classes, and that India — Telangana conducted a BC census, the first since the British era. He also mentioned the implementation of SC categorisation and the establishment of Young India Sports University, which provides government jobs to athletes like Bala Mohammed, Nikhat Zareen, and Deepthi Jeevanji. Reddy criticized the previous India — Bharat Rashtra Samithi government for limiting BC communities to traditional occupations. The announcements were made during a public meeting after unveiling statues of Jyotirao Phule and Savitribai Phule in Hyderabad.
