On 14 August 2026, the Federal Government of Nigeria inaugurated the new Board of the Nigeria — National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC) in Abuja. Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume charged the board to balance fair remuneration, productivity, and fiscal sustainability, especially following the implementation of the new National Minimum Wage framework. President Bola Tinubu appointed Major General Junaid Bindawa (Rtd.) as Chairman, Jumoke Okoya-Thomas as Secretary, and nine other members. The board pledged constructive engagement with organised labour, including the Nigeria Labour Congress.
