The announcement signals growing institutional adoption of cryptocurrencies, potentially boosting sentiment for digital assets and Galaxy Digital's stock. It may pressure other Israeli banks to follow suit, expanding crypto access to a wider retail audience.

Banking Cryptocurrency Financial Services

Bank Leumi, Israel's largest bank, announced on August 14, 2026 a partnership with Galaxy Digital to offer cryptocurrency trading to its customers starting in early 2027. The service will allow customers of Leumi and its mobile banking unit Pepper to buy, hold, and sell Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana through a dedicated section of the Leumi Trade app. Galaxy Digital will provide trading services through its GalaxyOne Institutional platform and custody infrastructure formerly known as GK8. This makes Leumi the first Israeli bank to announce such a service. The plan is subject to approval by the Israel — Bank of Israel, which previously blocked a similar 2022 attempt with Paxos (company). The companies did not disclose commercial terms, fees, or eligibility requirements. The announcement reflects a broader trend of banks integrating digital assets into their platforms.
